Cmentarz Wojenny Wspólnoty Brytyjskiej

Brytyjski cmentarz wojenny (Malbork Commonwealth War Cemetery) położony jest przy ul. 500-lecia. Znajdują się tu groby 13 żołnierzy brytyjskich zmarłych w latach 1914-1922, których szczątki przeniesiono w 1960 r. z cmentarza garnizonowego w Gdańsku, a także tablica ku czci 39 brytyjskich jeńców wojennych zmarłych w obozie jenieckim podczas I wojny światowej.

W czasie obu wojen światowych wielu żołnierzy Wspólnoty Brytyjskiej przebywało na terenie obecnej Polski w niemieckich obozach jenieckich. Zmarli z ran lub chorób w obozach, a niektórzy zostali rozstrzelani za próby ucieczek. Brytyjscy jeńcy z okresu II wojny światowej dostawali się do niewoli głównie we Francji i w Belgii w 1940 r. oraz w Grecji i na Krecie w 1941 r. Byli wśród nich także lotnicy, których samoloty zostały zestrzelone podczas lotów bojowych nad obszarem dzisiejszej Polski.

Na cmentarzu w Malborku w 232 grobach spoczywają żołnierze polegli i zmarli w latach 1939-1945. Większość z nich to jeńcy z obozów Stalag XXB (Malbork), Stalag 1A (Kamińsk), Stalag 2A (Starogard) i Stalag XXA (Toruń). Wśród pochowanych jest 223 Brytyjczyków, 4 Kanadyjczyków, 3 Australijczyków i 2 Nowozelandczyków. W wojskach lądowych służyło 189 żołnierzy, 39 w lotnictwie i 4 w marynarce. Na grobach znajdują się kamienne stele, na których wyryto dane pochowanych żołnierzy (stopień wojskowy, inicjały imion, nazwisko, skrót nazwy posiadanego odznaczenia, stanowisko lub funkcję, nazwę jednostki wojskowej lub rodzaju wojsk, datę śmierci, wiek i odznakę jednostki wojskowej). Większość pochowanych spoczywa w mogiłach indywidualnych.

Dn. 11 lipca 1942 r. 44 bombowce RAF z dywizjonów 97 i 207 dokonało nalotu na cele wojskowe w Gdańsku. Niemiecka artyleria przeciwlotnicza zestrzeliła dwa bombowce AVRO LANCASTER. Obie załogi zginęły i spoczywają w mogile zbiorowej.

Cmentarz znajduje się pod opieką Komisji Wspólnoty Brytyjskiej ds. Cmentarzy Wojennych (Commonwealth War Graves Commission - CWGC).

Cmentarz żołnierzy Armii Czerwonej

Znajduje się obok brytyjskiego cmentarza wojennego przy ul. 500-lecia. Spoczywa tu 529 żołnierzy Armii Czerwonej poległych i zmarłych w 1945 roku. Malbork został zdobyty 26.01.1945 r. przez wojska 2 Frontu Białoruskiego, ale w zachodniej części miasta walki trwały do 17.03.1945 r. Dane 66 żołnierzy znanych z nazwiska umieszczone są na dwóch tablicach przy wejściu na cmentarz. Cmentarz podzielony jest na dwie części aleją główną. Na jej końcu znajduje się pomnik, na którym umieszczono napis:
